Job Description:
Reporting to the Dean of the School of Sciences, the Director of the Nursing Program provides direction, coordination, and development of the Nursing Program. Works with the faculty of the Nursing Program to create the curriculum and to keep the program relevant and current to meet accreditation standards. Recruits retains and evaluates faculty and staff. Facilitates the development of contractual agreements between the Nursing Program and clinical agencies. Teaches within the program when needed and as administrative duties allow. Duties and responsibilities may be modified as the Program's needs dictate.
Requirements:
- PhD in Nursing
- Minimum of Master's degree in nursing
- Three years of administrative and teaching experience in an accredited higher educational nursing program.
- Current or eligible for an active, unencumbered Tennessee registered nursing license or multistate licensure privilege to practice as a registered nurse in Tennessee.
- Educational preparation or experience in teaching and learning principles, including curriculum development and administration.
- Current knowledge of registered nursing practices and Advanced Nursing practices.
Preferred Requirements
- Prior administrative experience, including experience with budget development, strategic planning, goal-setting, faculty/staff evaluation, new program development, and responsibility for physical spaces.
- Experience with technology in nursing education, including simulators and web-enhanced instruction through online teaching methods.
- Experience with accreditation, self-study process, program evaluation, and standardized testing.
- Experience with licensure requirements as set by the state board of nursing.
