Intake advocates are often the first face of City Mission most guests see. It is important to be encouraging, empathetic, able to listen, and understand the programs of City Mission, and the referral process.
Job Description
Role and Responsibilities
· Engage with individuals that seek assistance through City Mission Low barrier shelter.
· See that each guest of the low barrier shelter has a place to store personal belongings, has been given food and drinks, and clean bedding.
· Through the interview and intake process complete questionnaires or record information required by City Mission’s contract with The Home Project, ADAMSH
· Through the interview and intake process assist guest in identifying goals, barriers, and services requested. This may include intake into City mission Low barrier shelter, referral services for sud, referral services for mental health evaluation, mental health stabilization, housing services, and medical services.
Guests that request additional services will be referred to the advocate / navigator for further assistance
· Oversees the guests while in the overnight low barrier shelter
· Accesses, inputs, maintains information in mission tracker system.
· Originates and maintains required forms, documents, and records.
· Answers phone and messages concerning programs and services
· Job may include working weekends (Saturday and Sunday); working hours may vary to meet the needs of the City Mission
· Attends weekly staff meetings, contributes to the efficiency and effectiveness of the mission’s service to its guests by offering suggestions and participating as an active member of the team.

Qualifications and Education Requirements:
· High School Diploma or GED
SKILLS:
- Ability to operate and functionally use a computer.
- Ability and willingness to listen and allow each individual the freedom of choice in their process.
- Must be able to handle sensitive related and proprietary information in a confidential manner.
- Must maintain professional competence, ethical integrity, knowledge, and skills.
