GENERAL PURPOSE: Under general supervision, performs journey level skilled and semiskilled general labor for the maintenance, repair and upkeep of the water reclamation facility, wastewater collection systems, and water distribution systems.

- Performs the more difficult and responsible tasks in the maintenance, construction, repair and upkeep of the water reclamation facility, wastewater collections system, and water distribution system.
- Operates a variety of trucks and heavy equipment in accordance with all safety regulations and procedures.
- Performs maintenance, removal and install, repair and upkeep, and configuration of pumps, motors, and a variety of equipment at the water reclamation facility, wastewater collections systems, and water distribution system.
- Performs routine maintenance and custodial duties; picks up debris, paints facilities, structures and equipment, and makes minor and major maintenance repairs.
- Purchases, picks up, and transfers materials and equipment as directed; assists with landfill, recycling, sewer, drainage and wastewater operations.
- Installs and maintains pumps, motors, and a variety equipment used at the water reclamation facility, wastewater collections system, and water distribution system.
- Inspects, cleans and performs routine maintenance work on trucks and equipment; identifies and reports mechanical problems requiring additional repair.
- Completes required daily logs and reports.
- May assist in providing training and direction to new employees.
- Performs other duties as assigned or required.
SUPERVISION EXERCISED: None.Education and Experience:
High School diploma or GED equivalent, and two (2) year’s water, wastewater, or plant maintenance experience.
Special Requirements: Possession of a valid Arizona Commercial Driver’s License; special technical certifications may be required for some work assignments.
Necessary Knowledge and Skills:
- Knowledge of City policies and procedures.
- Knowledge of equipment maintenance and repair methods and materials.
- Knowledge of safety standards and practices.
- Knowledge of traffic laws and rules involved in vehicle and equipment operation.
- Skill in safely and efficiently operating equipment according to standard operating and safety procedures.
- Skill in reading and interpreting maps, technical specifications and operations manuals for vehicles and equipment.
- Skill in following and effectively communicating verbal and written instructions.
