This position provides supervision of the installation, maintenance and repair of the water distribution, sewer collection and force mains systems. Work is performed under general direction of the Manager of Water/Sewer Network for this opening.Essential Job Duties
The following duties are normal for this position. The omission of specific statements of duties does not exclude them from the classification if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment for this classification. Other duties may be required and assigned.
- Supervise and coordinate the daily work of personnel engaged in the water/sewer network, distribution, maintenance, repair and/or surveillance activities.
- Create lift station surveillance and building and ground maintenance work orders and monitor.
- May monitor telemetry and other associated functions.
- Order necessary parts and materials.
- Visit job sites; check for progress and compliance with standards and safety regulations.
- Maintain records and prepare reports.
- Address complaints and perform public relations.
- Assist in the preparation of the division budget; monitor expenditures and aid in proposing budget forecasts.
- Perform all functions and responsibilities according to the Palm Beach County Code of Ethics and Florida State Statutes 112.313.
- Fosters positive employee relations and employee morale on a City-wide basis.
Minimum Qualifications
- High school graduate or possession of an acceptable equivalency diploma (GED), supplemented by courses in pumps or hydraulics or in utility system maintenance, repair and surveillance.
- Two (2) years supervisory experience required.
- Five (5) years experience in the installation, maintenance and repair of the water distribution, sewer collection and force mains systems.
- Must possess a valid Florida Driver's License, Class B, CDL with air brakes and tanker endorsements, or obtain it within six months from hire.
- Must have a Level III or higher State of Florida Water Distribution Systems Operator License
- Florida DOT approved Maintenance of Traffic (MOT) intermediate qualification.
- Possession of "C" level certification or higher in wastewater collection is required.

It is the policy of the City of Delray Beach that persons having a CDL and participating in activities regulated by DOT are subject to drug testing and alcohol testing. The Omnibus Transportation Employee Testing Act of 1991 requires alcohol and drug testing of safety-sensitive employees in aviation, motor carriers, railroad, and mass transit industries. Provisions of this policy are based upon said Act and the relevant federal regulations applicable to the Act. As a condition of employment, The City of Delray Beach reserves the right to require all employees having a CDL and performing safety-sensitive activities regulated by DOT, to submit at any time to drug and/or alcohol testing to determine the presence of prohibited substances.

Ability to manage and prioritize routine, specialized and complex assignments and problems utilizing knowledge acquired through prior education, training, and experience. Ability to adapt to an evolving and continually improving environment. Requires demonstrated ability to utilize personal computer and office software such as MS Word, MS Excel and electronic mail.
