The City of Edina is currently accepting applications for 2025 Summer Seasonal positions in our Public Works department. Hours and wage may vary by position. Wage will vary depending on qualifications. We have the following positions available:
Seasonal Commitment Program: Receive a $300 incentive when you work 480 hours (60 days) as a PW Seasonal Employee. Eligible employees (current City of Edina seasonal/part-time employees) will receive the lump sum payment if they work the entire season, with satisfactory performance with no unexcused absences.
Mechanic:
This position performs manual, unskilled and semi-skilled work for the City's fleet systems. Duties include, but are not limited to the following:

Utilities:
This position performs manual, unskilled and semi-skilled work for the City's water, sanitary and storm systems. Duties may include, but are not limited to the following:

HIRING INCENTIVES
Seasonal Referral Incentive: Receive a $200 incentive when you refer someone who works 480 hours (60 days) as a PW Seasonal Employee. Eligible employees (current City of Edina seasonal/part-time employees) will receive the lump sum payment after the person they refer works the completes the seasonal position, in any of our Summer seasonal positions, with satisfactory performance with no unexcused absences. One referral per employee and you must answer the supplemental question on your application listing the name(s) of your referral. Mechanic:
This position performs manual, unskilled and semi-skilled work for the City's fleet systems. Duties include, but are not limited to the following:
- Assist in the repair of the City's vehicle fleet.
- Assist with inspections, diagnosis, and mechanical repair of small engines such as weed whips, chainsaws, etc.
- Assist with shop cleaning.
- Operate a variety of hand and power tools.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
This position will perform manual, unskilled and semi-skilled work for the City's street systems. Duties may include, but are not limited to the following:
- Work on a paving crew, adjusting iron, working behind paver raking and learning how to do asphalt.
- Assist in repair of the City Streets including asphalt patching, tacking, asphalt prep work, etc.
- Assist with loading and unloading materials such as dirt, asphalt, concrete, sandbags and sign materials.
- Landscape work.
- Storm outfall maintenance.
- Fabricates and install street signs.
- Operates a variety of hand and power tools
- Assist in traffic control set-up.
- Cleaning of vehicles and shop areas
- Working with Traffic Department.
- Other duties as assigned.
Utilities:
This position performs manual, unskilled and semi-skilled work for the City's water, sanitary and storm systems. Duties may include, but are not limited to the following:
- Assist in repair or replacement of manholes, catch basins, hydrants, gate valves and curb stops.
- Assist with sewer jetting, sewer inspections (camera truck), lift station maintenance and facility locating.
- Landscape work
- Storm outfall maintenance: Debris and plant removal, rip rap placement.
- Operate a variety of hand and power tools
- Other duties as assigned.
