  1. Under general supervision, performs a variety of general office duties.
  2. Responsible for the care and custody of persons who are housed in the jail.
  3. Responsible for securing and disseminating public records.
  4. Maintains confidential and sensitive information.
  5. Regular interaction and communication with other agencies and departmental personnel required.
  6. Must react and respond appropriately during emergencies, critical incidents and urgent matters in a calm and deliberate manner.
  7. Have the ability to multi-task and prioritize.
  1. Prepares form letters, correspondence, requisitions, reports, citations, time cards, transcripts and other documents.  
  2. Makes routine interpretations of ordinances, laws, rules and regulations when assisting the public; refers difficult interpretations to a supervisor.
  3. Routes calls to appropriate department or employee.   Utilize paging system to contact division heads and supervisors as needed.
  4. Dispatches police units when necessary.
  5. Assists in coordinating officers with scene activities by providing and relaying information as necessary.
  6. Maintains records such as offenses, arrests, traffic citations, court docket, etc.
  7. Prepares reports as necessary.
  8. Creates/maintains manuals used by personnel.
  9. Receives monies, writes receipts and maintains proper records, posts to ledgers.
  10. Files correspondence and reports using alphabetical, numerical and subject matter code as well as by other methods.
  11. Composes correspondence for own or department head signature.
  12. Operates office equipment; i.e. computer, radio, cameras, copier, fax and calculator.
  13. Acts as jailer or matron when prisoners are being housed in the jail.  Checks prisoners on assigned schedule; contacts patrol officers or supervisor when necessary for assistance with prisoners; schedules meals for prisoners. 
  14. Maintains mayor’s court docket, acting as court clerk when assigned, files and submits various reports for audit.
  15. Performs related duties as assigned.
  1. Knowledge of English grammar, spelling and punctuation.
  2. Knowledge of modern office procedures and equipment.
  3. Aptitude for computer operation.
  4. Ability to accurately enter information into computer software.
  5. Skill in communicating with the general public, sometimes under stressful conditions.
  6. Ability to make minor decisions in accordance with laws and regulations.
  7. Ability to work special shifts as necessary.
  8. Knowledge of arithmetic through percentages, fractions and decimals; do simple arithmetic calculations quickly and accurately.
  1. High school education and/or equivalent.
  2. Satisfactory background investigation.

Salary : $47,014 - $60,941
