About our Department: The Finance Department is responsible for monitoring the financial performance for City departments, managing the procurement of goods and services for the city, and managing the city’s cash flow from taxes, resources, and debt. Finance further provides the citizens of Huntsville, elected officials, city departments and other parties financial services and financial management information.Procurement Analyst II Position Overview: This advanced administrative and technical position is responsible for ensuring that commodities and services are procured in accordance with State and Federal laws and City policy. Work involves the ability to understand and interpret competitive bid law, exercise sound judgment, and perform analytical reviews. The Procurement Analyst II serves as a liaison between City departments and vendors to procure favorable contracts. Work is performed with considerable independence within established policies, regulations, and guidelines. Qualifications and Necessary Special Requirements: High school diploma from a school accredited by a regional accrediting agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education or GED certificate issued by the appropriate state agency, supplemented by two years of college-level course work or training in business administration, purchasing, or a related subject is required; considerable experience in governmental procurement and contract administration is required.Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or closely related field from a college or university accredited by a regional accrediting agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education or Associates Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or closely related field and two (2) years of increasingly responsible procurement experience and contract administration, including purchasing a variety of materials, supplies, services and equipment; utilizing competitive bidding or developing contracts, and writing of specifications and justifications in support of contracts and bids is preferred; Certification of Professional Public Buyer (CPPB) is desired.Possession of a valid driver's license and safe driving record for employees whose job requires traveling.Certification of Procurement Public Buyer (CPPB) is preferred.For More Information Regarding the Procurement Analyst II Job Duties, Please Visit the Websites Below: https://www.governmentjobs.com/careers/huntsville/classspecs/78181
