The City of Laguna Beach is inviting a driven and passionate Aquatics Coordinator to lead our exciting aquatic and recreation programs.
You’ll be the face of the City’s pool facility, overseeing daily operations, working closely with the Laguna Beach Unified School District, and providing excellent customer service.
In this role, you’ll mentor and manage a team of 20 year-round staff and up to 40 in the summer months, teach swim lessons, and help coordinate water sports.
You’ll also play a key role in supporting the recreation division with special events and summer camps during the upcoming pool facility renovation in 2026.

The City’s pool facility is preparing to undergo a complete renovation beginning in 2026. The incumbent will continue to work closely with the aquatics community during this project to preserve programming and keep the community updated on the process, as well as supporting the Recreation Division’s special events, summer camps, and other key functions.
Any combination demonstrating the ability to effectively and successfully perform the duties of the position is considered qualifying.
A typical combination is as follows : Education : Equivalent to a Bachelor's degree in Recreation, Social Services, recommended but not required.
Experience : At least two years of experience in organized recreation work. License / Certificate Requirements : Due to the performance of some field duties, which may require the operation of a personal or City vehicle, a valid California Driver's license and an acceptable driving record are required.
The following certifications are not required to apply but must be obtained before starting :
Lifeguard / CPR / AED / First Aid / Emergency Oxygen certification
The following certifications are not required to apply but must be obtained within the first 6 months of employment :
- Certification as a Lifeguard Instructor and Water Safety Instructor
- Certified Pool Operator or Aquatics Facility Operator Certification

This recruitment will be used to establish an Eligibility List and may be used to fill vacancies within departments across the City.
