What are the responsibilities and job description for the Graduate Engineer position at City of Lakeville?
The City of Lakeville is seeking a talented Graduate Engineer to join our team! You will contribute to a variety of Public Works projects, from data collection and construction observation to design and planning. You will be responsible for assisting division staff in performing technical engineering work and applying the principals and practices of civil engineering as applied to public works.
In this role, you will:
- Assist with engineering projects, including data collection, design, and construction observation.
- Prepare engineering plans, specifications, and cost estimates.
- Review and maintain project records.
2025 Salary Range is $35.03 - $45.33.
- Assist with construction observation of municipal improvement projects and developer-installed public improvement projects as directed for conformance with engineering plans and specifications, and construction and safety standards. Construction observation duties may include record keeping/project documentation, measuring/tracking quantities and interacting with co-workers, the general public, contractors and other public agencies.
- Assist with reviewing and maintaining as-built record plans of municipal improvement projects and developer-installed public improvement projects.
- Assist with designing municipal improvement projects, including the preparation of cost estimates, engineering plans, specifications and design documents, easement acquisition, permitting and surveying.
- Other duties and special projects as apparent or specifically assigned.
- Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited engineering degree program and successful completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam.
- Knowledge of the principles and practices of civil engineering.
- Knowledge and proficiency of basic Microsoft Office skills (i.e. Word and Excel).
- Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks and complete work accurately on a timely basis.
- Ability to provide and communicate technical engineering information effectively, both verbally and in writing.
- Valid driver's license.
- Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions and various terrains associated with construction projects.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Previous internship experience, engineering and design software experience (i.e. AutoCAD Civil 3D, HydroCAD), construction survey experience (i.e. Trimble) and GIS (ArcView) mapping applications experience.
- One to four years of work experience in the civil engineering field.
