As a Public Works Director, you'll be at the heart of everything that makes Marshfield a great place to live, work, and play. Essential job functions include:
- Managing all Public Works Department services, activities, and work programs.
- Establishing budget priorities and overseeing the preparation of operating and capital budget requests.
- Planning, directing, coordinating, and evaluating the Public Works Department Work Plan.
- Selecting, training, motivating, and evaluating Public Works Department personnel
- Directing the selection of consultants and procurement of contracts for Public Works projects and services.
- Serving as Secretary to the Board of Public Works and the Mill Creek Business Park Covenant Committee.

EDUCATION
- Minimum: Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering, Public Administration, or a related field such as Planning.
- Preferred/Optional: Masters Degree in related field.
EXPERIENCE
- Minimum Required: Five years of progressively responsible municipal experience as well as three to five years of public works administrative and supervisory experience required.
CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES
- Minimum Required: Valid Wisconsin driver's license required. State of Wisconsin professional engineer's registration, or ability to obtain registration within six months of the date of employment, required.
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES
- Knowledge of modern principles and practices of public works administration, including the application of civil engineering principles to manage a diverse range of public works activities. Familiarity with municipal, state, and federal regulations governing departmental functions. Strong understanding of budgeting principles and the ability to develop and manage budgets effectively. Proven ability to direct, supervise, and coordinate large-scale public works activities, ensuring seamless operations. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders. Demonstrated enthusiasm, motivation, and creativity in planning, directing, and supervising projects and programs to achieve department and community goals.
