What are the responsibilities and job description for the Code Enforcement Officer position at City of New Albany?
BASIC FUNCTION
Under general supervision of the Building Commissioner, this position is responsible for performing investigative work enforcing City codes and regulations.
SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- *Conduct detailed inspections of housing units and properties to identify code violations.
- *Prepare written specifications detailing work to be completed to bring units to code.
- *Research client ownership.
- *Communicate with clients about violations and the enforcement process and makes recommendations for corrective actions.
- *Conduct regular inspections of work in progress and completed projects.
- *Function as a liaison between the City's Subrecipients, homeowners/residents and landlords.
- *Maintain detailed records and set up files of violations and notices and maintains photo documentation.
- *Work closely with City Departments, including but not limited to: Building Commissioner, Planning and Zoning, Animal Control, and Storm Water in enforcing local and State codes.
- *Process and send out bills and places liens on property for enforcing City codes as necessary.
- Other duties as assigned.
