WHAT'S NEEDED FROM AN ASSISTANT DIRECTOR OF ENGINEERING?
We're looking for someone who can work a Monday to Friday schedule, with the occasional evening meetings and meet the following qualifications:
- Experience as a professional engineer
- Professional engineer certifications
- Knowledge of the principles and practices associated with public works operations, including plan review and construction inspection
- Understanding of the principles and practices associated with the design, construction, and management of roadways, bridges, creeks, sidewalks, trails, storm sewers, sanitary sewers, water mains, and facilities
- Knowledge of engineering principles and practices
- Familiarity with the administration of municipal budgets
- Understanding of relevant federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and policies
- Knowledge of supervisory principles and practices
- Proficiency with computers and job-related software programs
- Familiarity with the Manual of Uniform Traffic Control Devices guidelines
- Skills in planning and implementing public works programs and projects
- Expertise in planning, organizing, directing, and coordinating personnel
- Ability to analyze problems and develop and implement solutions
- Skill in preparing clear and precise administrative reports
- Extensive oral and written communication skills
