The essential functions of the position include, but are not limited to the following:
- Respond to calls for service; handles citizen complaints, problem solving, making custodial arrests, and issuing summons
- Knowledge of state law and local ordinance
- Ability to drive and operate emergency vehicles
- Ability to handle volatile persons, defend self and others, and testify
- Investigate reports of crime, interview victims, suspects and others involved, collect evidence, package cases for prosecution
- Completes paperwork, reports and case management, and training
- Patrol city streets, neighborhoods, businesses, parks, and conduct traffic enforcement and issue citations
- Knowledge of city geography
- Perform other duties as assigned
Education
- Associate degree in law enforcement/ criminal justice
- One (1) year experience in law enforcement
- Minnesota Police Officers license
- Valid Driver's License with a driving record that is acceptable to the City’s insurance carrier
- Compliant with Minnesota POST training standards
- Compliant with Minnesota POST conduct regulations and rules
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in law enforcement/criminal justice
- Two (2) years law enforcement field experience
- BCA certification
