What are the responsibilities and job description for the Capital Improvement Projects Intern #2025-PT13 position at City of Pompano Beach?
This internship position provides support to various roles within the Engineering Department of a public government agency. The intern will assist in coordinating daily operations, organizing and tracking project progress, updating records, and facilitating the flow of information, including files, drawings, permits, shop drawings, and related correspondence. Additionally, the role will support contract management efforts by assisting with project scheduling, inspections and coordination. Other related duties may be assigned as needed.
- Education & Experience:
- Background in engineering and/or construction, with a minimum of two years of college coursework in civil engineering, construction management, or a related field.
- Equivalent training and/or experience may be considered in place of academic requirements.
- Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
- Ability to read and interpret moderately complex civil engineering and architectural plans, plats, and profiles.
- Strong analytical, written, reading, and verbal communication skills.
- Capability to perform mathematical calculations related to civil engineering applications.
- Additional Requirements:
- Must possess a valid Florida driver’s license.
- Ability to interact effectively with consultants and contractors.
- May be required to conduct field inspections, attend progress meetings, and document meeting minutes as directed by the Project Manager.
- Primarily a sedentary role but requires the ability to handle or feel objects and controls, hear, talk, see, and read.
Work Days/Hours : May vary based on Intern’s availability; no more than 25 hours per week
between 7:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. Monday – Thursday.
