Position Summary
- Performs tasks for maintaining city streets and public areas, including trash collection, restroom cleaning, traffic control signage installation, storm drainage maintenance, mowing, brush cutting, tree pruning, painting, and building maintenance.
Key Essential Functions and Responsibilities include the following:
- Operates construction and maintenance equipment.
- Attends training courses and obtains certifications.
- Works with other departments and performs various maintenance tasks.
Qualifications and Skills
- Required Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
- Preferred Experience: Two years in carpentry, mechanical work, construction equipment operation, or similar fields.
- Licenses: Valid Oregon driver's license and acceptable driving record.
- Skills: Ability to perform strenuous work in adverse weather, maintain a positive attitude, and provide courteous public service.
Minimum Requirements
- Driver's license and acceptable driving record.
- Pass a drug screen and medical exam.
Environmental Factors
- Work Setting: Mainly outdoors, exposure to various weather conditions, mechanical parts, and potentially hazardous materials.
- Noise Level: Loud in field settings, moderately quiet in office settings.
Performance Standards
- Punctuality, positive attitude, cleanliness, safety adherence, and ability to operate city vehicles. Must obtain a Class B CDL within six to twelve months of employment.
