Overview
The Code Enforcement Officer plays a vital role in ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal regulations related to public health and safety. This position involves conducting inspections, enforcing codes, and working collaboratively with various departments to promote a safe community.
Responsibilities
- Conduct regular inspections of properties to ensure compliance with building codes, zoning laws, and public health regulations.
- Investigate complaints related to code violations and take appropriate enforcement actions.
- Prepare detailed reports documenting findings from inspections and investigations. Write letters and citations as necessary.
- Provide monthly reports to council and upon request
- Collaborate with other departments and agencies to address compliance issues effectively.
- Educate property owners and the public about relevant codes and regulations.
- Maintain accurate records of inspections, violations, and enforcement actions taken.
- Stay informed about changes in laws, regulations, and industry best practices related to code enforcement.
- Conduct annual meeting with Code Enforcement Board
- Work with City Clerk on annual rental dwelling license renewals
Qualifications
- Knowledge of public health standards and OSHA regulations is preferred.
- Strong writing skills with the ability to communicate findings clearly and effectively.
- Experience in code enforcement, building and construction codes. Clear understanding of zoning regulations, building codes, and related laws.
- Experience in regulatory reporting and compliance management is desirable.
- Ability to build positive relationships with community members, other departments, and other agencies.
- Excellent problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- A valid driver's license is required. Use of personal vehicle required
This position is essential for maintaining community standards and ensuring the safety of residents through diligent enforcement of codes and regulations.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $20.00 - $24.00 per hour
Expected hours: 10 – 20 per week
Schedule:

- No weekends
