The City of Surprise Resource Center is seeking its next dynamic team member to join our Community Action Program (CAP) assisting residents of Surprise, El Mirage, Waddell, Wittman and Sun City. The Resource Center Specialist completes a high volume of applications for housing and utility financial assistance in a timely and accurate manner.
SUMMARY
Incumbents coordinate the processes of the Community Action Program (CAP) service provisions utilizing multiple funding sources to determine applicant eligibility. Incumbents are responsible for the direct intake of information from applicants requesting services, providing assistance with identifying and recruiting essential community services, assisting residents in finding and applying for services utilizing case management practices and principals. Incumbents assist with programs offered at the Resource Center and provide support to other related neighborhood projects and activities.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
High School Diploma or G.E.D and two (2) years related experience in the human services, social services, housing programs, non-profit agencies and/or other related experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed in the job description. Additional education cannot be substituted for experience.
CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Must have at time of hire and be able to maintain a valid Arizona driver license. Must provide proof of having a Fingerprint Clearance Card (FCC) from the Arizona Department of Public Safety within 7 days of hire, or provide proof of having applied for the Fingerprint Clearance Card (FCC) within 7 days of hire. The cost of obtaining a FCC will be provided by the Human Services & Community Vitality department.
SELECTION PROCESS
Applicants whose education, training and experience most closely meet the needs of the position may be invited to participate in a selection process to include a panel interview.
