We are looking for a Deputy Prosecuting Attorney to join our Legal Services Department. The Legal Services Department plays a crucial role in providing legal support across various city departments, handling matters from contract review and land use planning to civil litigation and risk assessment. The Deputy Prosecuting Attorney will manage misdemeanor and infraction offenses within Twin Falls, support the Twin Falls Police Department with specialized training, and represent the city in legal proceedings. Key responsibilities include reviewing police reports, negotiating plea deals, preparing legal documents, and providing legal advice and guidance to law enforcement officers and city officials on legal matters related to misdemeanor offenses. The qualifications for this position are a Juris Doctorate degree from an accredited law school; licensed with the Idaho State Bar (or eligible to become licensed within six-months); and a preferred minimum of one year of courtroom experience in either a criminal or civil context.

Applicants should possess a work history which demonstrates strong understanding of criminal law, municipal ordinances, and procedural rules; excellent written and oral communications; proven ability to work effectively under pressure and handle a caseload with competing priorities, ability to work collaboratively with law enforcement, colleagues, and community members, demonstrated commitment to ethical legal practice and community service; proficiency in legal research and writing; ability to interpret various statutes and code sections; understanding of relevant case law; and an attitude of cooperation.

Final applicants must be able to successfully pass relevant background investigations which will include; reference checks, education verification and a criminal history check.

The annual salary for this position is $83,252 - $99,892
