Job Description: Electronic Asset Technician
Position Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and skilled Electronic Asset Technician to join our team. The Technician will play a crucial role in the secure handling, testing, repair, data sanitization, and software reloading of IT assets & Household consumer equipment, including but not limited to desktop and laptop computers, tablets, game consoles, mobile phones, flat panel displays & monitors, appliances, floor care & other household items. This position is vital in ensuring the responsible and compliant disposition and refurbishing of assets, protecting sensitive data, and contributing to environmental sustainability.
Key Responsibilities
Testing & Diagnostics:
o Perform thorough testing and diagnostics on IT & Household equipment to identify hardware and software issues.
o Repair or replace faulty components to restore functionality.
o Provide feedback on improvement opportunities for test and repair procedures.
Data Sanitization:
o Execute data sanitization procedures using certified software and methods to ensure all data is irretrievable. Methods may include software-based data erasure, cryptographic erasure, and physical destruction.
o Maintain strict adherence to industry standards for data protection and provide certificates of data destruction when required.
Software Reload & Configuration:
o Reinstall and configure operating systems and software on refurbished devices, ensuring all systems are up to date and fully operational.
o Customize software installations according to client specifications or company standards.
Asset Management:
o Track and document all assets processed, including serial numbers, condition assessments, and final disposition outcomes.
o Collaborate with inventory management teams to ensure accurate records and reports are maintained throughout the process.
Compliance & Environmental Responsibility:
o Ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements related to data security.
o Support recycling efforts by separating recyclable components and properly disposing of non-reusable materials, contributing to the company’s sustainability goals.
Production Tasks
o Receiving, identifying & logging in assets on all ITAD equipment
o Packaging, labeling, and boxing of equipment once repaired.
Administration
o Email follow up, communication with ITAD team members.
o Provide detailed audit of incoming products.
o Daily reporting/communication
o Inventory control/logging new product/removing shipped product.
Qualifications
- Experience in IT repair, diagnostics, or a related technical field.
- Strong knowledge of data sanitization techniques and software.
- Familiarity with operating systems, software installation, and hardware troubleshooting.
- Attention to detail and commitment to maintaining data security and environmental standards.
- Experience in R2V3 regulations a plus,
- Certifications Comp TIA A , or similar credentials is a plus.
Work Environment
The Electronic Technician will work in a fast-paced environment, handling a variety of assets. The role requires physical receiving, handling of equipment and adherence to safety protocols during data sanitization, hardware repair processes and packing/repacking.
Schedule
This is a day shift position. Hours are 8:00AM-4:30PM.
