Mechanical Engineer

Summary:
CLYNK is seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer to join our dynamic Scotia, New York team. We are looking for a highly skilled professional with over four years of experience in mechanical systems engineering who brings creativity, a high standard of excellence, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
As a Mechanical Engineer, you will be instrumental in driving process improvements and innovations in CLYNK's Materials Recycling Facilities (MRF). You will contribute to the development and deployment of cutting-edge redemption technology for both internal and external clients, playing a critical role in advancing our products and services. This role involves cross-functional collaboration and the opportunity to make a significant impact on CLYNK's future technology roadmap.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the design, development, testing, and implementation of key mechanical components and systems for high-volume processing plants, focusing on gear systems, pneumatics, hydraulics, and optical sensors.
- Drive improvements in existing processes and equipment, identifying and solving complex issues to enhance efficiency, reliability, and scalability across CLYNK’s MRFs.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including hardware, manufacturing, and software engineers, to advance product offerings and align with customer and business needs.
- Take ownership of mechanical design and fabrication projects, overseeing the development of new solutions from initial concept through rollout across multiple plants and customer locations.
- Develop and maintain strong partnerships with vendors, ensuring alignment with project timelines, specifications, and quality standards.
- Support installation, testing, and commissioning of new equipment and provide on-site guidance for process and equipment troubleshooting.
- Maintain comprehensive documentation, including specifications, project timelines, and process changes, ensuring alignment with regulatory standards and best practices.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering.
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles, production metrics, and statistical analysis expertise in designing and implementing complex mechanical systems.
- Proficiency in CAD modeling (preferably SolidWorks) and experience with rapid prototyping and standard fabrication methods.
- Strong knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) methodologies.
- Skilled in hands-on assembly and prototyping using various hand and power tools.
- Advanced project management skills with the ability to manage multiple complex projects in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Willingness to travel up to 25% for on-site support, customer visits, and coordination with CLYNK headquarters in South Portland, ME.
Additional Qualifications:
- Familiarity with renewable energy technologies and their application in recycling.
- Experience in programming and system design involving microcontrollers or single-board computers.
- Basic coding skills in C or Java.
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles, production metrics, and statistical analysis.
- Hands-on experience with MIG and TIG welding.
- Ability to operate and safely maintain machining equipment such as lathes and mills.
