The Director of Financial Aid, reporting to the Vice President for Enrollment Management & Marketing, provides overall direction, management and administration of the college’s comprehensive financial aid program. This role ensures compliance with institutional, federal and state regulations while supporting student enrollment, retention and net tuition revenue goals. The Director is responsible for the administration of budgeting, staff supervision and financial literacy initiatives, fostering a student-centered environment responsive to the needs of students and their families.
Responsibilities
- Lead a welcoming, inclusive, and student-focused environment that supports and educates prospective and current students and their families in navigating the financial aid process, aligning with campus recruitment and retention goals.
- Provide individual counseling to students and families on financial aid topics, including FAFSA completion, eligibility requirements, borrowing options, loan repayment and personal financial wellbeing.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state and institutional financial aid regulations and policies; oversee reconciliation tasks, financial aid audits and the maintenance of the Title IV Participation Agreement with the U.S. Department of Education.
- Manage the financial aid budget, endowed and restricted scholarship programs and contribute to the development of packaging strategies.
- Develop and implement financial literacy initiatives and outreach programs to educate students and families on financial aid options and resources.
- Maintain and update Financial Aid Office policies, procedures and training materials to reflect regulatory changes, enhance operational efficiency and align with industry best practices.
- Oversee all administrative functions of the Financial Aid Office, including supervising, evaluating and providing professional development opportunities for staff.
- Serve as a primary point of contact for financial aid appeals, fostering clear communication and student-centered service.
- Build collaborative relationships with college departments and external stakeholders to support institutional goals and student success.
- Prepare reports and analyses for senior leadership to guide decision-making and strategic planning as needed.
- Monitor changes in financial aid legislation and communicate relevant updates to stakeholders.
- Attend training and conferences to stay current on industry trends, regulations, and best practices.
- Effectively manage multiple priorities and deadlines while maintaining accuracy and operational efficiency.
