Position Overview

Performs wide array of direct and indirect services in Crisis Response system for persons experiencing acute/urgent emotional or mental problems. Emphasis is on outreach to the community as a member of a team with the goal of diverting hospitalizations when possible. Must be able to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods of time with occasional climbing of stairs, while providing crisis response services in the office and community. Community includes: homes, hospitals, streets, alleys, jails, schools, professional buildings, etc..

Schedule: This is a 24/7 program and may require coverage of all three shifts including holidays and weekend availability.

Summary of the Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Complete Mental Status Evaluations including suicide risk assessments.
  • Crisis Counseling.
  • Referral and/or follow-up.
  • Screening applicants for clinical services at various locations in the community.
  • Locate clients by phone contact and/or home and community outreaches. Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods, go up and down stairs, as well as inclines and declines in landscape, and traverse over uneven ground.
  • Assistance in assessment of client’s clinical needs.
  • Monitoring of LRA’s, to include facilitation of court orders with a variety of community providers and/or programs.
  • Document the problems, interventions, and disposition of the case, including all referrals and termination summaries.
  • Complete all state-required logs daily and any other documentation to facilitate the business operation or administrative reporting of the Center.
  • Provide case consultation with community services, therapists, family, schools, as appropriate, and with consumer's written consent.
  • Provide information regarding ITA disposition to individuals and agencies as required by law.
  • Assist in triage and coordination with other staff to provide appropriate levels of response to requests for assistance.
  • Participate in the Agency's public education programs.
  • Be available to provide crisis intervention outreach services as appropriate. Be continuously available during periods of coverage, including ensuring that his/her location is known at all times and also he/she can be contacted.
  • Attend all crisis response staff meetings and training meetings as required.
  • Provide consultation, education and training for Center staff and other agencies or individuals as deemed appropriate by supervisors.
  • Be familiar with and follow all laws and regulations governing emergency services.
  • Effective use of technology and software including, but not limited to, computers, phones, email, EMR, etc.
  • Ability to work with difficult cases and vulnerable populations.
  • Be helpful, respectful, approachable and team oriented.
  • Effective time management including, but not limited to, planning ahead where possible and being punctual in person and work performed.
  • Build strong working relationships and a positive work environment.
  • Be receptive to feedback, willing to learn, and embrace continuous improvement.
  • Complete all documentation, reporting, and other paperwork per agency standards.
  • Document each fact to face contact as soon as possible, no later than the end of shift.
  • Document each telephone contact as soon as possible, no later than the end of shift.
  • Attend all appropriate staff meetings, organizational, and external meetings (as assigned).
  • Work efficiently both independently and as part of a team.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • MHCP I: 1 year of experience in the mental health or related fields.
  • MHCP II: 5 years of experience in the mental health or related fields.
  • MHCP III: Bachelor's degree in social work, psychology or medical fields with 1 year of experience in the mental health or related fields.
  • Upon hire: professional registration or certification by the Licensing Department of the State of Washington as a counselor.
  • Required to have a valid Oregon or Washington Driver's License, Insurance, and an automobile.

Salary: $21.60 - $23.48/hr. depending on education and experience.
