Overview
The Director of Strategy will play a pivotal role in shaping and driving the strategic vision of our multi-clinic primary care health system. This leader will oversee the development, implementation, and communicating of key strategic initiatives to ensure the organization meets its mission to deliver high-quality, accessible healthcare. The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in strategic communications, media outreach, data analysis, and executive-level support while fostering meaningful relationships with stakeholders, philanthropic partners, and the broader community.
Responsibilities
Essential Functions:
Strategic Communications and Media Outreach:• Develop and implement comprehensive communication strategies to enhance the organization's visibility, reputation, and impact, working closely with the Director of Communications/Community Outreach and the Chief Strategy Officer• Lead media outreach efforts, including press releases, story pitches, op-eds, and responses to media inquiries.• Build and maintain relationships with key media outlets, influencers, and public relations partners.• Manage crisis communications and develop proactive communication plans for organizational initiatives.
Strategic Data Analysis and Insights:• Analyze healthcare trends, organizational performance, and community needs to inform strategic planning.• Provide data-driven insights, horizon scanning and reports to guide decision-making for the executive leadership team.• Collaborate with internal teams to assess and optimize the impact of strategic initiatives.
Executive Communications and Support:• Prepare speeches, talking points, presentations, and briefing materials for executive leaders.• Ensure consistent messaging and alignment with the organization’s mission and goals in all executive communications.• Serve as a trusted advisor to the leadership team on strategic priorities and external positioning.
External Stakeholder Relations:
• Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with community partners, government agencies, and other external stakeholders.• Represent the organization at public events, conferences, and meetings with key stakeholders.• Advocate for policies and initiatives that align with the organization's mission and goals.
Philanthropic Development and Support:• Collaborate with the development team to identify and secure funding opportunities.• Support grant writing efforts and other philanthropic initiatives to advance organizational priorities.• Build relationships with donors and philanthropic partners to deepen their engagement with the organization.
Writing and Editing:• Produce high-quality written materials, including reports, proposals, articles, and other communications.• Ensure all materials reflect the organization’s voice, values, and strategic priorities.• Edit and refine content to ensure clarity, impact, and accuracy.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Demonstrated expertise in media outreach, strategic planning, and data analysis.
- Exceptional writing, editing, and verbal communication skills.
- Proven ability to build relationships with diverse stakeholders, including media, donors, and community partners.
- Strong leadership and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Knowledge of healthcare systems and non-profit organizational dynamics is highly desirable.
Qualifications
Minimum Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Business Administration, Public Health, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred
Minimum Experience:
- Minimum of 8-10 years of experience in strategic communications, organizational strategy, or related fields, preferably within a non-profit or healthcare organization.
