Companion Dogs is a locally owned, family operated dog daycare and boarding facility. We are looking for a part-time caregiver to expand our team.
Candidate MUST be available to work Tuesday through Friday, 8am - 2.30pm. Have a valid clean drivers license.
We are seeking someone who is dedicated, reliable and wants to grow within the animal husbandry field. This is a long term position. Handlers will be mentored on dog handling and training techniques with the opportunity for additional hours and growth within the business.
Job Overview
The ideal candidate will possess the skills necessary to handle multiple dogs in a safe and effective manner. This role involves working closely with various dogs with a range of behaviors, providing them with the necessary care, and attention they require. while maintaining a calm confident attitude. The Handler will play a crucial role in maintaining a safe and nurturing environment for the dogs.
The handler is expected to be physically able to walk multiple dogs at once in all weather elements at a good pace. Additionally, you will be responsible for transporting dogs to/from their homes in the company vehicle.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the safety and behavior of dogs while playing and socializing and walking
- Walk multiple dogs at a time at a good pace
- Provide mental stimulation and socialization for the dogs
- Engage in training activities with dogs to promote good behavior and obedience
- Collaborate with team members to create a positive environment for both animals and staff.
- Maintain cleanliness of animal living areas and equipment.
- Transport dogs to/from homes to the facility in company vehicle.
- Administer food, water and applicable medications to the dogs.
- Learn balanced dog training methods and tools.
Requirements
- At least 21 years old with a valid drivers license and a clean driving record
- Reliable transportation
- Comfortable with handling multiple dogs at a time
- Positive can-do attitude and passion for working with dogs
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work well within a team
- Keen understanding of dog behavior and body language
- Ability to handle and work with dogs needing behavior modification from anxiety to aggression
- Ability to follow safety protocols and guidelines while handling dogs
- Ability to perform heavy lifting when required, such as moving larger animals
- Comfortable with using all types of training tools
- Ability to maintain a clean and safe environment for the dogs
- Ability to lift more than 50 pounds
- Ability to be outside in all weather elements
- Social media videography is a plus
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $22.00 - $25.00 per hour
