JOB SUMMARY:
The Medical Assistant/Receptionist will be responsible for checking in clients and patients as the first point of contact at the front desk. The Medical Assistant/Receptionist will take and record vital signs including blood pressure, weight, height, pulse, and temperature for patients receiving medical services. The Medical Assistant/Receptionist will maintain CCAP’s Electronic Health Record to include vitals, lab results, patient communications, and screening tools. The Medical Assistant/Receptionist will manage urine samples, throat culture, perform fingerstick blood sugar and hemoglobin. Obtain reason for visit and history of allergies. The Medical Assistant/Receptionist will be responsible for scheduling appointments with department providers and adjusting schedules as necessary. The Medical Assistant/Receptionist will answer agency phones in a kind and respectful manner and make referrals to internal services as well as external resources when needed. The Medical Assistant/Receptionist will also check each day’s insurance eligibility and confirm next day appointments.
WORK SCHEDULE DEMANDS:
This is a full-time 37.5 hours per week position.
Part-time when specified by the Director.
Must be able to work evenings.
Occasional unscheduled overtime may be required in the event of vacation time or short staffing.
May be required to work at any CCAP location.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. The environment is a clinical business office environment. Potential exposure to blood borne pathogens, respiratory diseases and other infectious diseases, and other biohazardous material requiring universal standard precautions.

- Receive and process patients, take vitals (BP, Wt., Ht., Pulse, and Temp.)
- Obtain and record patient data in HER (Vitals, Social Hx’s, PHQ’s, Lab results)
- Obtain current demographic information from clients and patients
- Operate and maintain clinical equipment
- Prepare patients for examinations and tests
- Properly dispose of medical waste and sharps
- Register and update patient information
- Schedule/cancel appointments
- Confirm insurance eligibility
- Confirm next day appointments
- Properly document in EMR Chart
- Clean and stock rooms
- Assist providers in rooms as needed
- Alert appropriate person of supplies needed
- Answer phones in courteous, manner
- Take accurate, legible phone messages/medication requests
- Secure department and end of shift if last to leave, unplug equipment, lock medication cabinets, and shut off lights.
- Computer literate
- Paperwork as needed
- Fill out lab and state transmittals
- Other duties as needed
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Medical Assistant Certification or CNA
- High school diploma, GED
- Triage skills
- Organizational skills
- Excellent communication skills for all levels of client, provider, and colleague interaction.
- Professional telephone manner
- Current CPR (BLS) certifications
- Complete all required background checks
- Provide/maintain all required immunizations and/or vaccinations
- Bilingual/Bicultural Spanish a plus
