What are the responsibilities and job description for the Mortgage Origination Underwriting Manager position at Consolidated Analytics?
The Underwriting Manager oversees Underwriters working on underwriting projects, ensuring efficiency and compliance. Key responsibilities include sample selection, audits, staff management, and reporting underwriting results to the VP and counterparties. The role also involves direct communication and coordination with clients and counterparties. This involves thorough knowledge of residential mortgage underwriting guidelines as well as FNMA Home Ready (CRA) and FHLMC Home Possible (CRA) and making informed decisions on loan applications to ensure compliance with program specifications and regulations.
Responsibilities:
- Overseeing the Underwriting team to ensure results are met.
- Direct communication of progress and results to VP.
- Track completion of audit findings and ensure performance meets all audit turnaround times on file reviews.
- Producing and providing all reporting requirements to Clients and Counterparties.
- Ability to understand Underwriting business needs and adjust the Underwriting process as needed to meet those needs
- Understanding of FNMA Home Ready (CRA) and FHLMC Home Possible (CRA) loan programs.
- Review the conditions of loan to ensure they are met.
- Set expectations, provide timely status updates and establish deadlines for customers.
- Effectively manage your own work queue.
- Review reporting to target loans in the pipeline that need special attention.
Required Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree.
- 2 years managing Underwriters.
- Ability to communicate effectively with customers and internal partners- both in written and verbal form.
- DE/LAPP/SAR are a plus but not required. Proficient in Excel and reporting.
- Ability to mentor and coach direct reports.
- Ability to train new recruits in system navigation where deficient.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to effectively facilitate meetings, develop management reports and to report out the monthly results to senior management.
- Ability to research, evaluate, and interpret results and to effectively communicate these to determine trends.
- Excellent organization and time management skills.
- Ability to interface confidently with clients and to influence others within the organization to drive results.
- Experience with the FNMA “Home Ready” Loan Program required
- Experience with the FHLMC “Home Possible” Loan Program required
- Direct experience with CRA (Community Reinvestment Act) mortgage underwriting
- Minimum 2 years underwriting front-line CRA mortgage origination loan applications
- Minimum 2 years of experience of Empower (LOS) Loan Origination System preferred.
- Ability to prioritize competing tasks while maintaining a high degree of quality/compliance accuracy, ability to effectively handle escalated issues by utilizing problem solving skills.

Pay: $85,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
