Coos County Family Health Services is looking for a Dental Receptionist working in our Berlin location! This position is Monday through Thursday, 10 hours per day 40 hours per week. Full-time Benefits Available. Generous Earned Time Benefits accruing up to 4 weeks per year.
SUMMARY
Facilitates the smooth transition of patients and provides a range of critical tasks that support an efficient, effective and financially sustainable dental center.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Answer and screen the telephone, greet patients in a professional, friendly manner.
- Pulls and prepares patient charts and prepares daily information needed for dental staff.
- Takes steps to ensure an orderly and appropriate atmosphere in the dental center.
- Schedules and confirms appointments when needed and follows up with NO SHOW appointments according to dental centers policy.
- Verification of insurance eligibility (via computer, telephone, or Point Of Service) and checks coverage limitations and patients co-payment responsibility; process self pay patient applications, verify income eligibility for sliding fee scale.
- Assists patients in completing dental history, consent and financial forms if necessary and obtains and verifies patient information during the registration process.
- Maintains electronic and paper dental records as required; transmission of electronic claims, posting insurance payments to patient accounts.
- Checks in the patients; requests and collects co-payments and outstanding balances on accounts.
- Triages emergency patients according to dental centers emergency policy and works those who meet emergency criteria into open slots in the daily schedule; schedules future appointments as available for patients whose needs are not urgent or emergent.
- Completes the check-out process for patients, scheduling follow-up appointments as needed to complete the treatment plan.
- Helps to manage patient flow in the dental center.
- Manages all aspects of the prior approval/authorization process-submits required documentation (via mail and/or computer as appropriate); monitors and tracks status of requests.
- Performs a variety of clerical duties and assist in processing reports as needed.
- Assists in inventory of clerical office supplies; orders and restocks as necessary.
- Collects and distributes mail and messages to include faxes and electronic mail.
- Reconciles completion of daily cash deposit; assist making deposits as needed.
- Participates in the ongoing evaluation of Dental Program operations to assure the delivery of high-quality services that support the financial sustainability of the program.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Previous medical or dental reception, registration or billing experience preferred.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
- Ability to communicate effectively with others using the spoken word.
- Ability to communicate effectively with others using the written word.
COMPUTER SKILLS
- Must have basic experience/knowledge of computer systems and programs.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
- Possession of certifications in dental assisting, including a certification in Dental Radiology is preferred.
- Current CPR certification required.
- Current driver's license and reliable means of transportation required.
