This is a unique opportunity for an Industrial Painter in our manufacturing facility in Waterloo, Iowa that features two state of the art paint booths. This is an opportunity to join a highly successful business with advancement opportunities. We are looking for a highly motivated, detail-oriented person with strong background in industrial or automotive paint coupled with proficient organizational skills, and outstanding people skills.
This position is responsible for, but not limited to prepare and paint the interior and exterior of industrial equipment, machinery, and other metal parts working closely with assembly, machining and fabrication areas.
Duties include, but are not limited to:
- Must be able to work independently with little supervision
- Preparing surfaces: Cleaning, washing, stripping, and sanding surfaces to prepare them for painting
- Applying paint: using spray equipment.
- Ensuring quality: Ensuring the paint job meets company standards and extends the life of the structure
- Cleaning and maintaining painting and coating equipment, ventilation, compressed air, and personal protective equipment (PPE)
- Following safety regulations: Conforming to all safety guidelines and wearing required PPE
- Working in a team environment: Being willing to work with others to reach a common goal
- Ability to read and understand work instructions and mechanical blueprints
- Attentive to detail
- Safe operation of fork trucks while loading and unloading
- Comply with CPM safety policy
- Other duties as assigned
- Be proficient with a variety of painting techniques and tools
- Adaptability: Be able to adjust quickly to changes in schedules, environment, or task requirements
- Chemical knowledge: Be familiar with different types of paint and understand their chemical properties , proficient in water based paint desired.
- Safety awareness: Be able to follow safety regulations and ensure a safe working environment
- Communication skills: Be able to read and comprehend instructions, write simple correspondence, and present information to others
- 1-2 years of work experience in an industrial environment
- Fork truck experience
- Crane experience a plus
- Good communication skills
- Knowledge of OSHA regulations as they apply to an industrial facility
- Possess a sense of urgency and maturity to get the job done
