Assistant Project Manager – Energy Optimization
Our client is an award winning Energy Optimization company that focuses on improving energy efficiency for their commercial client base. They design and implement energy saving systems like LED lighting, EV charging stations, and advanced building controls, as companies navigate regulations and rebates.
We’re seeking an Assistant Project Manager to join the growing team. This role involves providing field support for onsite project activities, managing service-based projects by hiring and overseeing subcontractors, and generating project management deliverables for customer-direct material sales. The ideal candidate is enthusiastic about pursuing a career in project management and looking for a company that will foster professional development and training.
Headquarters in Vancouver, WA. The Assistant Project Manager will work from the headquarters when not traveling. Typical travel is a 2-3 day trip during the week (home for all weekends).
Key Responsibilities
Field Support (50% Nationwide Travel / 50% onsite): Conduct material inventories at client sites. Assist in project installation kick-offs and inspect installation progress. Perform project completion walks and post-inspection for incentives. Train customers on system controls and conduct commissioning. Audit project scopes, measure light level readings, and document findings. Service-Based Project Management: Oversee project operations, providing coordination, communication, and technical control. Hire and manage subcontractors to meet project requirements. Generate and manage technical documentation throughout project stages. Handle escalated warranty claims and manage warranty installations. Quote material and labor costs for warranty-related work. Manage service and labor-only sales. Material Sales Management: Build and process material-only orders, track shipments, and coordinate deliveries. Perform project management practices to meet customer expectations. Assist with energy incentive activities as needed. Receive and inventory shipments while supporting general warehouse organization. Train project team members and improve training materials. Qualifications
Required Skills and Experience: Bachelor’s degree preferred but not required. 1-2 years of project management experience required. 1-2 years of professional business experience preferred. Proven ability to exceed customer expectations. Detail-oriented with the ability to work independently and manage schedules autonomously. Proficient in MS Office Suite and project management software. Team player with an ownership mindset. Strong work ethic and commitment to quality. Excellent attitude and sense of humor. Valid and insurable driver’s license required.
