  • Responsibilities:

Help our staff create a positive, safe, nurturing and inclusive school environment that promotes learning and creativity as well as emotional, cognitive and physical development.

  • Assist in managing classroom behavior and implement effective behavior management strategies.
  • Complete all state requirements to be considered a child care staff member and be alone with students.
  • Upon arrival, aides must check all used bathrooms to be sure unsafe items are safely stored, i.e. plungers, chemicals, toilet brush, urinal cakes. While there, stools and soaps must be set up as well. This needs to be completed before children arrive.
  • Assist with Children at arrival, assist as they get out of the car and walk inside.
  • Remember to check all tote bags for notes and items from home, that may not have been in the folders
  • Make sure to double check that each child has the correct tote, and the correct folder
  • Do folders! Anything that comes in needs to be checked for a name before it is added to the Teacher’s folder.
  • Count out snacks, pitchers, and paper supplies for each class every morning, and deliver them to the classrooms. The aide should be putting out the snack when each class goes to the bathroom, if at all possible.
  • Assist teachers in the classroom when needed
  • Be available for bathroom emergencies, and first aid assistance.
  • Assist in craft prep for teachers when it is submitted to you in a timely manner
  • Make, laminate, and cut out monthly name tags for each class before the start of each month
  • Assist with Teacher assessments if your other obligations are completed.
  • Manage and document all drills
  • Perform quarterly checks of all first aid kits
  • Oversee and assist with the sanitizing of tables and sweeping after snack time
  • Please check the play room and all learning centers each day when classes have finished playing. Ensure that all items are returned to their rightful place, and that the rooms are sanitized and organized for the next class, as well as all trash taken out.
  • Assist with dismissal until all children have left.
  • Take out trash in classrooms, including checking the kitchen trash, especially on the last day of the week.

All current positions begin at 8:30am, and would end at 12:00pm.

Current days that need filled would be Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. These days can all be covered by the same person, or by different people.

Qualifications:
- Previous experience working in a daycare or preschool setting is preferred, but not required.
- Understanding of early intervention strategies for children with special needs is helpful.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with children, parents, and colleagues.

- Sufficient mobility to allow for getting eye level with a 3-5 year old, picking up a child if needed, functioning within a preschool sized classroom, doing large motor activities with a class, and moving easily throughout a building with multiple flights of stairs.
- Patience and flexibility.
- CPR, First Aid, Child Abuse and Communicable Disease certification must be obtained once hired.

Pay: $10.45 - $12.00 per hour

Expected hours: 7 – 10 per week
