Position Overview:
The Director of Protective Intelligence oversees the strategic and operational leadership of the Protective Intelligence team, ensuring the delivery of high-quality intelligence support to protective details and clients. This role involves overseeing program managers who supervise analysts performing various protective intelligence functions. The Director will liaise with other units within Crisis24, provide guidance on business development opportunities, and ensure the team has the necessary resources to succeed. Responsibilities also include compliance with applicable laws and regulations related to open-source research and maintaining expertise in AI, LLMs, and proprietary industry tools.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
People Management
Strategic Leadership:
Develop and implement operational strategies specific to Protective Intelligence that align with the company's goals and objectives.
Set long-term performance and growth goals for the Protective Intelligence team in collaboration with executive leadership.
Lead operational planning for the team, including budget management, resource allocation, and setting KPI targets focused on request velocity and quality of intelligence products.
Team Management:
Supervise, mentor, and guide Program Managers overseeing analysts and investigators on dedicated, operational support, or ad-hoc support teams.
Ensure Managers have the support and resources needed to lead their teams effectively.
Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide feedback to drive professional development within the team.
Foster a collaborative environment that encourages open communication and knowledge sharing.
Talent Development:
Develop and implement training and development programs for Managers and their teams, focusing on advanced open-source intelligence (OSINT) research skills and the use of AI/LLM technologies.
Identify and cultivate high-potential employees for future leadership roles within the Protective Intelligence unit.
Performance Management
Operational Excellence:
Oversee the implementation of best practices in protective intelligence operations, ensuring high levels of service delivery and client satisfaction.
Monitor the performance of the Protective Intelligence team, addressing any issues that arise due to lack of structure, guidance, or overlapping functions with other units.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and improve the quality of intelligence products.
Compliance and Risk Management:
Ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations related to open-source research and pretext engagement.
Conduct risk assessments specific to intelligence operations and implement mitigation strategies to minimize operational risks.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of regulatory changes and industry standards affecting protective intelligence activities.
Technology and Tools Management:
Lead the integration and effective use of AI/LLM technologies, Microsoft Office, and proprietary industry tools for social media monitoring and open-source research.
Encourage the adoption of innovative technologies to enhance intelligence gathering and analysis capabilities.
Client Care
Client Relations:
Serve as the primary point of contact for all protective intelligence needs within the organization.
Address escalated issues and ensure high levels of client satisfaction through timely and effective communication.
Collaborate with operations and back-office teams to develop and maintain strong client relationships, providing expert guidance on protective intelligence matters.
Intelligence Product Delivery:
Oversee the delivery of ad hoc intelligence products and dedicated services to clients, ensuring they meet the highest standards of quality and relevance.
Ensure all intelligence products are proofread and edited for clarity, accuracy, and adherence to intelligence writing styles before dissemination.
Quarterly Business Reviews (QBRs):
Participate in QBRs with internal stakeholders, presenting performance data, insights, and strategic recommendations related to protective intelligence services.
Use QBRs as a platform for continuous improvement and relationship-building, highlighting the value of the Protective Intelligence team’s contributions.
Business Development
Strategic Guidance:
Provide expert advice on business development opportunities related to protective intelligence services.
Collaborate with VPs and other senior leaders to support business development initiatives, offering insights into client needs and market trends.
Benchmarking and Innovation:
Benchmark the Protective Intelligence team's performance against industry standards and competitors.
Drive innovation by implementing new technologies, methodologies, and best practices in intelligence operations.
Program Implementation:
Ensure Managers effectively execute program progression plans, aligning team efforts with organizational objectives.
Oversee the implementation of 30/60/90-day plans for major operational changes within the Protective Intelligence unit.
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:
Minimum of 10 years of experience in the intelligence field.
Master’s degree in Intelligence Analysis or a related discipline.
Certified Threat Manager certification from the Association of Threat Assessment Professionals.
Proven experience managing a remote, global team of intelligence professionals.
Advanced open-source intelligence (OSINT) research skills and certifications.
Proficiency in AI/LLM technologies, Microsoft Office, use of commercially available information (CAI) databases, and proprietary industry tools for OSINT research, social media monitoring.
Exceptional writing, proofreading, and editing skills, with the ability to produce and oversee high-quality intelligence reports.
Strong communication skills, capable of interacting effectively with a broad range of stakeholders.
In-depth understanding of compliance requirements related to open-source research and pretext engagement.
