We are seeking a talented, experienced, highly motivated, proactive, and detail-oriented individual to manage all purchasing and inventory procurement for our family owned and operated business, encompassing Design-Build Construction, Architecture & Interiors, Landscaping, and Retail operations. This role includes sourcing and acquiring goods and services, negotiating with suppliers, ensuring timely delivery, and maintaining optimal inventory levels. The position requires balancing cost-effectiveness with quality to support our company's operational needs and growth.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Inventory and Procurement Management: Manage and maintain Purchasing and Inventory within the ERP software system. Research and source suppliers for goods, services, and equipment based on company needs.
- Supplier Relations: Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers & vendors, negotiating pricing, terms, and delivery schedules.
- Order Management: Create and issue purchase orders, track order status, and ensure timely and accurate delivery.
- Inventory Control: Monitor and maintain inventory levels to prevent shortages or overstocking, and coordinate with the Sales Manager.
- Inventory Accuracy: Monitor and maintain inventory accuracy through regular cycle counts and audits, ensuring discrepancies are identified and addressed in a timely manner.
- Transaction Tracking: Ensure proper recording and tracking of all inventory transactions, including receipts, shipments, adjustments, and returns.
- Cost Optimization: Evaluate and negotiate pricing and payment terms to achieve cost-effective purchasing decisions.
- Market Research: Stay up to date with industry trends, pricing, and suppliers to recommend cost-saving opportunities and improvements.
- Quality Assurance: Ensure purchased goods meet quality standards and are compliant with specifications and regulations.
- Staff Supervision: Supervise and train inventory staff, providing guidance and support to promote optimal performance, and ensure the team is well-equipped to achieve department goals.
- Storage Environment: Maintain a safe, secure, and organized inventory storage environment, conducting regular inspections and enforcing proper storage practices.
- Inspection and Coordination: Coordinate with receiving and returns departments to ensure merchandise is appropriately handled and processed, supporting overall inventory control objectives.
- Collaboration: Work closely with internal departments such as finance, warehouse, sales, interior design, and project management teams to ensure timely fulfillment of orders.
Education, Experience, and Skills Required:
- A bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, business administration; or equivalent education and applicable experience.
- 3-5 years of experience in purchasing or procurement in a leadership position, within the building supply or construction trades.
- Proficient in using ERP or WMS and other relevant software applications.
- Proven negotiation skills, attention to detail, and proficiency with inventory management software and Microsoft Office Suite with emphasis on strong knowledge of Excel.
- Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills to effectively communicate with customers, other business departments, and vendors.
- Possess strong mathematical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Effective supervisory and leadership skills with the ability to successfully train others.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- The physical demands include regularly sitting, standing, or stooping, and lifting up to 50 pounds on regularly and 75 pounds with the help of others.
- May be asked to travel to visit vendors or different company locations.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $90,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
