Summary:
This position provides nursing services to the medical unit and clinical supervision for nursing staff.
- Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Provides assessment for admission, medication administration, medication education, aids with nursing scheduling as needed, acts as liaison to center director for nursing staff, monitors medication errors, monitors pharmacy stock and medical supplies. - Provides clinical supervision for nursing staff and assists center director with evaluation process and disciplinary issues re: nursing practice, client care. Also, participate in regularly scheduled meetings to update center director on nurse’s status/issues. Oversight of daily shift report meetings.
- Participates in interdisciplinary treatment planning, remains updated on current nursing trends/ policies/ procedures and assists to keep other nurses up to date
- Provides crisis intervention consultation to all members of the team
- Participates in peer review process for team
- All other duties as assigned by center director
Special Attributes: Strong psychosocial, clinical assessment skills. Minimal supervision regarding use of time, able to prioritize work assignments. Ability to communicate effectively with professions and clients/families. Ability to make sound decisions in emergency situations.
Supervisory Responsibilities: Provides direct clinical supervision to nursing staff. Provides input to center director on administrative issues involving nursing staff.

Education and/or Experience: Must be licensed as RN in NC with minimum of Associate Degree in Nursing. A four year BS degree in nursing is preferred. Prefer four years of experience in psychiatric nursing with minimum of 1 year supervisor/management experience. Actual work experience will be considered in addition to other requirements
