Overview:
We are seeking an Industrial Electrical Estimator with expertise in electrical construction costs, bid preparation, and electrical design to support our industrial estimating efforts. This person will work closely with team members, vendors, and customers to develop accurate, detailed, and timely estimates for industrial, controls, and special occupancy electrical projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Review customer needs and provide cost estimates based on project plans, specifications, and/or site conditions.
- Oversee multiple bids simultaneously, ensuring competitive and accurate proposals.
- Conduct site visits to assess risks and gather comprehensive cost data.
- Utilize various estimating software and tools to develop detailed estimates.
- Develop and refine estimating procedures to align with company growth and systems.
- Collaborate with project managers and field teams to ensure estimates align with execution strategies.
- Source and analyze subcontractor and supplier pricing for cost-effective solutions.
- Identify value engineering opportunities to optimize budgets.
- Participate in pre-bid meetings, bid reviews, negotiations, and strategic planning discussions.
- Monitor project budgets and provide cost analysis for continuous improvement.
- Maintain and update historical cost databases to improve estimating accuracy.
- Assist in training new estimators and fostering professional development within the team.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 5 years of electrical estimating experience, preferably in industrial, design-build, special occupancy and/or controls projects.
- Strong understanding of electrical systems, NEC codes, labor productivity rates, and material pricing.
- Proficiency in McCormick Estimating, Electrical Bid Manager, Accubid, or similar estimating software.
- Excellent analytical skills and ability to work under tight deadlines.
- Strong leadership and communication skills to collaborate effectively with teams and external partners.
- Detail-oriented mindset with a commitment to accuracy and process optimization.
- Technologically inclined, with the ability to adapt to new tools and software.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in industrial controls, automation, or power distribution
- Journeyman or Master Electrician license
- Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, financial modeling, Power Query).
- Experience integrating & interfacing estimating with job-costing systems and accounting systems
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: From $45.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
