Job Summary:
This position is responsible for 24/7 coordination and administration of the campus custodial operations including staffing, scheduling and attendance as well as oversight of all supplies (inventory and replenishment). This role ensures that all custodial services are delivered efficiently and effectively, maintaining a clean and safe environment for students, faculty, staff, and visitors.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Recruits, interviews, hires, and trains new staff
- Assigns staff to work areas and manages daily work schedules
- Oversees the daily workflow of direct reports
- Provides constructive and timely performance evaluations and feedback
- Manages time off requests for staff
- Timesheet review and processing
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Coordinates project work
- Inspects work areas and assignments daily
- Maintains inventory and requisition supplies and equipment
- Monitors daily recycling and trash disposal
- Other duties as assigned
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities effectively
- Ability to supervise a large and diverse team
- Familiarity with custodial equipment, cleaning techniques, and safety regulations
- Knowledge of chemicals, floor care experience, and carpet care
- Must have knowledge in union contract negotiations
- Computer skills in Microsoft Word
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma / GED Minimum of five years of experience in custodial operations in a supervisory role
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Occasionally lifting 50 lbs or less
- Frequently lifting 25 lbs or more
