Education & Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree in Recreation Management, Aquatics, Sports Management, Business Administration, or related field is strongly preferred. Two or more years of previous Lifeguard Management, Lifeguard Instructor, Health, and Safety Instructor experience in an Aquatic environment is preferred. Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong organizational skills and possess proficient skills in Microsoft Office Suite. Must have the ability to meet strict deadlines, work well under pressure and respond quickly/effectively to emergency situations.

Certifications:       Must possess or must obtain within six months of start date the following certification:

  • Aquatic Facility Operator (AFO) or Certified Pool Operator (CPO)
  • Ellis and Associates Lifeguard Instructor License (which includes CPR, First Aid, and AED training)

Essential Functions:

  • Assist in the daily operation of the waterpark including team member oversight.
  • Communicate effectively with team members and guests providing friendly, polite, and courteous service.
  • Assist with the recruiting, interviewing and hiring process of seasonal employees.
    • Attend recruitment events and promotional events offsite as directed.
  • Assist with scheduling, planning, and execution of lifeguard training classes.
    • Assist with processing course registration information.
    • Teach lifeguarding classes
    • Assist instructors in the setup and tear down of lifeguarding classes.
  • Coach and develop team members by providing help and support while upholding company policies and values.
  • Assist with updating staff policies/procedure manuals and training checklists.
  • Assist in development of weekly team member schedules for lifeguards.
  • Ensure weekly in-service trainings are completed as directed.
  • Ensure staffing levels are monitored and adjusted by the management team according to business needs.
  • Review and approve timesheets and manage payroll according to company policy.
  • Ensure proper organization of department paperwork and files including training documentation.
  • Complete and review team member disciplinary actions according to company and department policies and procedures, as directed.
  • Monitor the performance review process for all seasonal aquatics department team members annually, as directed.
  • Plan and develop both company events and department projects, programs, and events.
  • Visually monitor water quality and notify Waterpark Facility Maintenance or Assistant Director of Aquatics immediately of any concerns regarding water quality.
  • Anticipate, recognize, and respond to emergencies in a timely and appropriate manner according to Ellis & Associates International Lifeguard Training Program standards.
  • Conduct daily Ellis & Associates procedures.
    • Meet/exceed the standards set forth within the Ellis & Associates manual/licensure agreement.
    • Contact Ellis & Associates when required in the absence of the Assistant Director.
  • Ensure compliance of and abide by company policies/procedures and department policies/procedures, as outlined in the Employee Handbook and Department Manuals.
    • Train and/or re-train team members on company and department policies and procedures when necessary.
  • Adhere to and ensure compliance of all company safety policies/procedures.
    • Ensure safety of all team members and guests by maintaining the facility and equipment, conducting hazard inspections, reviewing/completing injury reports, and recommend corrections and follow through.
  • Ensure compliance of Federal and State laws, Child Labor Laws, Model Aquatic Health Code, Americans with Disability Act, and Occupational Safety Health Administration regulations.
  • Work in various weather and environmental conditions including but not limited to direct or indirect sunlight, heat, humidity, rain, hail cold.

Other Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and protect employee, customer, and consumer confidentiality.
  • Report to and from work at assigned time.
  • Completed other duties as assigned.
  • Must be honest and reliable.
  • Must be able to work in a team atmosphere.
  • Provide help and support to co-workers on an ongoing basis.
  • Adhere to dress code policy.
