Delta College of Arts and Technology is seeking a full-time, service-oriented Facilities Maintenance Technician to join our team at our Baton Rouge Campus. This role performs a full range of basic tasks in the maintenance and cleaning of buildings and the campus grounds.
The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, forward-thinking, and highly motivated. This role requires working flexible hours, including occasional evenings and weekends, if needed.
The Maintenance person is responsible for ensuring that the facilities meet the Campus standards of cleanliness and safety by maintaining cleanliness and orderliness in and around the campus.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform minor maintenance and repair, including painting, sheetrock repair, replacing light bulbs, ceiling or floor tiles, rekey/replace door keys.
- Maintain inventory of cleaning supplies and equipment and request replenishment as necessary.
- Campus beautification, including trash and weed removal, planting and maintaining flowers.
- Monitor building security and report any safety hazards or maintenance issues to the Facilities Manager.
- Assist with setting up and breaking down rooms for events and meetings.
- Follow established safety protocols and use personal protective equipment as required.
- Promptly report minor or major repairs needed and related safety concerns to the appropriate supervisor.
- Perform cleaning duties, including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, and trash removal.
- Minor repair of bathroom facilities including plunging toilets, replacement of parts when needed.
- Replenish bathroom supplies as needed.
- Collaborate with other custodial staff to ensure efficient and effective cleaning operations.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Campus Director.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience in maintenance or custodial work preferred.
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently.
- Ability to safely operate and perform minor maintenance on tools and equipment used in daily work.
- Knowledge of cleaning chemicals and equipment and safety requirements.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Successful candidates must pass a criminal background check and a pre-employment drug screen.
