Under the direction of the IS Director. The Clinical IS Nurse is responsible for the development, implementation, and troubleshooting of new or modified informatics solutions that supports the DH providers, clinical support, ancillary, and administrative staff. Facilitate the maintenance of the electronic medical records system (EMR). Educate staff and assist in problem solving to promote the implementation of the healthcare system.
Position Responsibilities:
- Serves as a liaison between clinical departments and the informatics team.
- Works closely with physicians and other clinical staff to ensure communication in relation to the electronic medical records, IT and the clinical staff is a priority.
Clinical IS Nurse:
- Collaborates with medical staff office to onboard new physicians coming to Delta Health on the Electronic Medical Record.
- Documents the training of physicians as well as ensures new providers are supported in relation to the EMR.
- The primary focus will be hospital physicians, but can expand to the clinics on an as needed basis.
- Ensures providers are enrolled in EPCS (Electronic Prescription for Controlled Substances), assists with troubleshooting after enrollment.
- Reviews order sets and documentation with providers to ensure they are up to date and meet the provider’s needs-works with the IS team to update documentation and order sets for providers and will bring changes to committee as needed.
- Is a contact for providers if there is an issue related to documentation or e prescribing on an as needed basis.
- Attends provider committee meetings on an as needed basis to be a liaison if changes are needed in relation the physician documentation or ordering.
- Assists the IS department as a clinical resource for projects related to the EMR including but not limited to new module implementation, and requested changes by clinical staff or physicians.
- Assists the IS department in attending the EMR documentation improvement committee meeting on an as needed basis.
- Ensures order set changes are made through physician committees when needed as well as paper order sets are kept up to date. Ensures any changes are made in the EMR to both test and live.
- Keeps training materials for physicians up to date and can help build other training materials for departments on an as needed basis.
PRN or “as needed” employees provide a crucial role within the organization, giving departments more flexibility to operate and ensuring that Delta Health provides superior services to our patients.
- PRN minimum requirement: 2 shifts per month, 1 holiday per year
- Bachelor’s degree in Nursing or healthcare related field preferred.
- RN must be currently licensed in the state of Colorado.
- Minimum of five (5) years healthcare worker experience in a hospital setting.
- Two (2) years experience with Health Care Informatics preferred.
- Facilitate effective communications among all team members, leadership, and IS/Informatics team members to ensure comprehensive understanding of needs, expectations and requirements.
