What are the responsibilities and job description for the RN - PACU position at Delta Health?

Under the direction of the Director, Surgery Unit and the Chief Clinical Officer; following the ANA standards of performance and standards of practice, delivers quality nursing care to patients from ages newborn to geriatric on an assigned unit. Assures that patient/family needs are met. Provides for open communication within the unit, with patients, families, physicians, other units and departments. Demonstrates knowledge of patient/staff safety measures. Builds and maintains professional relationships.
- Obtain history from patient.
- Obtain pre-op nursing assessment.
- Ensure that patient’s chart is complete.
- Monitor vital signs.
- Complete surgeon and anesthesia pre-op orders.
- Provide cheerful and comforting environment.
- Provide pre-op and post-op teaching.
- Manage post-op pain and nausea.
- Monitor surgical sites.
- Assists surgeon during endoscopies.
- Complete surgeon and anesthesia post-op orders.
- Record patient’s medical information and vital signs.
- Consult and coordinate with health plan care team members to assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care plans.
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
- Must be currently licensed to practice as an RN in the State of Colorado.
- ACLS required upon hire or within 6 months.
- BLS required.
- Two years PACU experience preferred.
