Job Title: Logistics Specialist
Reports to: Senior Account Executive
Status: Salaried Exempt
Job Summary
As a Logistics Specialist, you are responsible for operational support and assisting with Account Executive’s book of business. You will ensure all customer orders are appointed, covered, picked up, and delivered on time, supporting continued business and the growth of a book of business.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Perform account specific tasks i.e. load building, load scheduling, overflow check calls, etc.
Add all needed load tenders immediately after the load is built.
Set appointments with shippers and receivers and record information in McLeod and Customer’s TMS.
Provide basic customer and carrier support duties and escalate issues to Account Executive or Carrier Sales team as needed.
Build relationships with load coordinators and others responsible for supporting freight.
Monitor and track loads as needed to ensure details are accurately communicated and proactively identify potential problems.
Act as the liaison between the Finance and Account team by supporting customer aging, collections, and credit.
Track down loose paperwork from the carrier or receiver on loads that cannot be invoiced.
Provide necessary communication updates and issue resolution for operations and customers as required.
Ensure accurate data capture, data integrity and TMS system entry in all carrier and customer related functions.
Job Requirements
Education/Experience
BA or BS degree or equivalent experience required.
High attention to detail
Deep understanding of the freight industry
Excellent organizational skills
Ability to prioritize, work independently, and meet deadlines
Skills Required
This person should be knowledgeable of the supply chain and logistics industry, highly motivated, urgency driven and have superior written and verbal communication skills to succeed at this position.
Must have strong relationship-building, follow-up and problem-solving skills.
Ability to communicate in a positive manner.
Must have the ability to thrive in at fast-paced team environment.
Must be able to work with others along with working independently.
Must be detail-oriented and must meet scheduled deadlines.
Ability to multi-task in completing scheduled activities along with additional assigned activities.
Punctuality and a good work ethic are critical.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office required. Experience with McLeod TMS a plus.
