Chip Mill Maintenance Mechanic

Our Coosa Pines location in Childersburg, Alabama is currently seeking talent to fill the position of Chip Mill Maintenance Mechanic.

Primary Purpose : Summarize the main purpose of your job in a few sentences:

Maintain chip mill equipment in a safe, efficient and productive manner

Duties and Responsibilities : List the primary responsibilities of your position (this description should focus on the job and not on the person doing it):

• Safety. Participate in a comprehensive safety program based on Resolute’s Safety and Health Management System. Ensure your personal safety by following company policy and proactively identifying and avoiding risks. Report any safety near misses and hazards and help communicate corrective actions. Participate in layered safety audits. Participate in safety inspections and hazard analysis and take actions to mitigate safety risk. Report safety concerns to the shift supervisor.
• Maintenance. Perform routine and major repair work on chip mill equipment at the direction of the supervisor.
  
  

The chip mill equipment includes a log boom crane, front-end loader, mobile knuckle-boom loader, and chipping and debarking line.

• Other duties including housekeeping and notifying the supervisor of needed parts.
• Continuous improvement. Make suggestions for improvement in operations, equipment, and/or safety practices and PPE.
  
  

Physical Requirements

• Must be able to climb vertical steps and or ladders to access and maintain equipment.
• Able to maintain alert, coordinated physical movements of hands, arms and legs for sustained periods of up to ten hours with breaks.
• Able to safely lift objects as required up to fifty pounds.
  
  

Requisite Skills (preferred):

• General mechanical skills to include ability to use hand tools, measuring devices, meters and troubleshoot
• Ability to weld and cut carbon steel
• Knowledge of hydraulic systems and functions
• Basic electrical knowledge and troubleshooting
• Automotive engine repair is helpful
• DC drive knowledge
