Job Title: Controller

Summary/Objective
The Dr Pepper Museum is seeking a detail-oriented, skilled, and dedicated finance professional to manage the financial operations of a thriving and growing organization comprising three legal entities and over 70 employees.
As Controller, you will oversee all aspects of the Museum's finance department, including daily accounting, payroll, accounts payable, and receivable. Reporting to the President & CEO and Associate Director, you’ll play a vital role in ensuring the Museum’s internal operations run smoothly, accurately, and on budget.
Major Duties & Responsibilities
- Maintain the chart of accounts across three legal entities, updating as necessary.
- Reconcile all bank accounts and perform necessary journal entries.
- Oversee accounts payable, ensuring accurate input and coding of transactions.
- Balance and minimize intercompany accounts monthly.
- Post monthly and yearly financial closing entries.
- Review inventory costing and oversee year-end physical counts and adjustments.
- Administer the in-house payroll process efficiently and accurately.
- Prepare accurate financial statements and reports for leadership, grants, and the Board of Directors.
- Assess and document internal controls, ensuring operational compliance.
- Train and assist senior managers in budget preparation and monitoring.
- Serve as the liaison for year-end audits and tax return preparation.
- Develop and maintain bookkeeping and accounting policies.
- Conduct cash flow analysis and provide financial forecasts for decision-making.
Additional Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the HR Manager to ensure accurate employee benefits processing.
- Present financial performance insights aligned with organizational goals.
- Maintain ongoing communication with senior staff, department managers, and external vendors.
- Manage relationships with auditors, tax accountants, attorneys, and consultants.
Required Qualifications
- Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance (required).
- Advanced degree or accounting certifications (preferred).
- Experience & Skills:
- Minimum of 5 years of accounting experience.
- Proven payroll management for companies with 25 employees.
- Proficiency in QuickBooks, Microsoft Office Suite, and advanced Excel functionality.
- Familiarity with point-of-sale platforms (Square preferred).
- Strong organizational, time management, and communication skills.
- Exceptional attention to numerical detail.
