We are hiring a Managing Director to join our team in North America, to be responsible for managing a portfolio of clients, delivering against revenue and profit targets, and driving business growth through developing client solutions, and leading a team of professionals designing and delivering programs to meet our clients' needs.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Build and manage a client portfolio with overall accountability for portfolio success

  • Accountable for driving the commercial performance of client projects, ensuring quality solution design and delivery
  • Identify and develop new business with existing clients as well as new prospects
  • Drive business development activity through networking, developing proposals and delivering high quality pitches

Provide excellent client relationship management (CRM) to key client stakeholders

  • Take the lead in building or deepening relationships with a portfolio of clients
  • Build a personal brand (in content, process, relationships, etc.) that clients look to for advice and partnership
  • Is viewed as a trusted and reliable thought leader and partner to clients
  • Handle, resolve and negotiate difficult issues with clients, suppliers and other Duke CE units and teams

Design collaboratively with clients, utilizing the full range of Duke CE capability and resources

  • Understand client business context and challenges and how those challenges relate to leadership
  • Lead a diagnostic dialog with clients, leading to business and learning outcomes
  • Translate client request into a logical and credible Duke CE design. Owns the storyline and design decisions
  • Understand Duke CE's portfolio of offerings and how those offerings related to client
  • Provide project execution excellence in the discovery to delivery (end-to-end) process

Leverage expertise in platform skills with clients

  • Clearly communicate the session's topic, goal and relevance to the participants ensuring delivery excellence against desired program outcomes
  • Read audience and makes adjustments as necessary to achieve exceptional delivery of content
  • Encourage audience interaction to improve learning

Lead and develop a team through targeted work experience, coaching and feedback working to create a productive and satisfying team environment

  • Manages assigned direct reports, ensuring regular performance and development activities occur
  • Actively looks for opportunities to mentor/advise employees who are not a direct report
  • Leverages people and resources to build individual and organizational capabilities in a way that balances delivery excellence with meaningful growth opportunities for team members

Actively contribute to the management and evolution of the business

  • Build regional capabilities and supporting leadership decision making
  • Ownership of processes or special projects and identification of potential external talent
  • Actively collaborate with peers across teams and geographies to share knowledge and support quality execution,
  • Contribute frequently to Duke CE thinking

Acts as an ambassador for Duke CE's philosophy, brand and culture within the office and externally

Requirements

Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) required.

Prior project and client management experience in a senior level role in a human capital development environment. Preferably experience with instructional design, consulting and/or facilitation skills.

Proven business development capability to identify potential clients and lead business growth; Experienced in RFPs and pitches.

Executive presence, projecting confidence and poise under pressure, and demonstrating gravitas with stakeholders at at senior level.

High level of business acumen, understanding the world of business and what leadership capabilities clients need to be successful.

Strong financial acumen in areas of budgeting, pricing, forecasting, profit & loss and reporting. Preferably previous experience of managing a P&L.

Operates with integrity, considering legal and ethical sides of situations and mitigating risks.

Network development abilities, having established and leveraged external networks as a means to develop business, and internal networks to complete work efficiently.

Experience of leading and developing teams, bringing energy and motivation as a leader of people.

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Agility to write compelling thought-pieces and business development proposals.

Ability to travel routinely.
