General Information
Hours to be Worked:
- Full-time salaried position with staff benefits.
- Requires a minimum of 44 hours and a maximum of 60 hours per week.
Staff Meetings:
- Coordinate/attend all weekly golf shop meetings throughout the year.
- Attend other business meetings as requested by the General Manager.
Areas of Responsibility
A. Golf Shop Duties
- Spread hospitality and goodwill among members and guests daily. Be knowledgeable about all golf operations personnel duties and thoroughly understand policies and procedures of both the golf operation and Duke University.
- Ensure the golf shop is always neat, clean, and well-organized. Maintain attractive, clean counter areas and displays.
- Take an active role in merchandise operations, including ordering, receiving, pricing, and displaying merchandise within the Duke University Golf Club's open-to-buy system. Ensure all miscellaneous supplies are current.
- Act as the Host Professional and supervisor for daily events and tournament programs as assigned by the Head Professional.
- Supervise and direct the following departments: Bag Storage, Lockers, Club Rentals, Bag Rentals, and Starter and Player Assistant operations.
- Assist in directing and occasionally supervising other departments, including golf cars, driving range, bag storage, and starter/player assistant operations. You may be assigned direct management of these areas.
- Record daily sales in the merchandise and revenue book. Correctly close all cash/charge operations at the end of the day. Reconcile daily deposits and prepare any necessary daily reports.
- Be available for any work-related duties assigned by the Head Golf Professionals or General Manager.
B. Leadership and Planning Responsibilities
- Provide leadership and inspiration to make all departments operate at their best. Be responsible for the day-to-day operations of these areas.
- Plan for both short-term and long-term needs in assigned areas.
- Contribute significantly to planning for major and minor systems within the golf club, including:
- Golf cars
- Driving range
- Bag storage
- Locker room facilities
- Starter and Player Assistant operations
- Tournaments
- Tee time administration
- Golf shop merchandise, display, and inventory
- Other major profit and cost centers
- Suggest changes to work methods and procedures to the Head Professional and General Manager to meet goals and deadlines.
- Gather and summarize data for special projects such as annual reports, space, supply, or equipment inventory. Review progress on ongoing programs and suggest or help implement improvements to operations.

The General Manager/PGA Director of Golf evaluates job performance.

Minimum Qualifications
Education
High School Diploma. Must be a Class 'A' member in the of PGA of America.
Experience
Requires 4 year's experience. OR AN EQUIVALENT COMBINATION OF RELEVANT EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
