Overview: We are seeking an entry-level Draftsman to join our team at a precast/prestressed concrete plant. As a Draftsman, you will assist in the creation and modification of erection drawings for precast and prestressed concrete components used in construction. This role requires strong attention to detail, a basic understanding of CAD software, and the ability to work collaboratively within a production environment.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Create and modify erection drawings for precast and prestressed concrete products, including beams, wall panels, columns, slabs, and other structural elements.
  • Draw and modify precast/prestressed piece details, ensuring all dimensions, reinforcement placements, and connections are accurately represented.
  • Assist in the design process by working closely with engineers, project managers, and production teams to ensure accuracy and feasibility.
  • Use drafting software (e.g., AutoCAD) to produce accurate and clear design drawings based on project specifications and engineering guidelines.
  • Ensure all designs conform to industry standards, safety regulations, and plant-specific requirements.
  • Review design drawings and documents for errors, inconsistencies, or omissions, and collaborate with senior staff to make corrections.
  • Coordinate with the production team to ensure that drawings are understood and properly implemented during manufacturing.
  • Maintain a database of drawings and other design documentation, ensuring they are easily accessible and up to date.

Basic Qualifications: Candidates without this experience will not be considered.

MINIMUM 2 YEARS EXPERIENCE USING AUTOCAD SOFTWARE IN CIVIL ENGINEERING REQUIRED.

  • Associate’s degree in Drafting, Architectural Technology, Civil Engineering Technology, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
  • Basic knowledge of AutoCAD; experience with Revit is a plus.
  • Familiarity with construction drawings, blueprints, and design principles.
  • Experience with Bluebeam and Adobe software for reviewing and editing PDFs, markup, and collaboration.
  • Understanding of precast and prestressed concrete manufacturing processes is a plus but not required.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow precise instructions.
  • Excellent communication skills to collaborate with engineers, production teams, and other stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Willingness to learn and grow within the field of drafting and construction design.
  • Able to read and understand contract drawings
  • Knowledge of and experience with FDOT structure standards
  • Positive contributor to overall office and department goals, culture, and morale.
  • One to two years of Revit experience preferred
  • Understands technical terminology of the engineering and precast industry
  • Must be flexible in a continuously changing environment and able to work the necessary hours to meet deadlines

Preferred qualifications:
Previous experience drafting for precast company strongly desired
Knowledge of FDOT safety and structure regulations
Excellent technical design and computer skills
A keen eye for details
Experience in parking deck design
Good problem-solving skills
Excellent English verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills

Candidates must be eligible to work in the United States. This position is in person in our Leesburg, FL office.

Pay commensurate with experience.
