Role: BIM Electrical Designer
Location: Tempe, AZ
Job Type: Full-time
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented BIM Electrical Designer to digitally model and coordinate electrical systems for building projects. This role involves creating detailed 3D models, ensuring the seamless integration of electrical systems with other building components, and collaborating with stakeholders to optimize design and construction processes.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Develop comprehensive 3D models of electrical systems, including power distribution, lighting, controls, and special systems (e.g., fire alarm, mass notification, communication networks) under the supervision of a principal.
- Gain proficiency in Revit modeling and participate in the design process, including producing schematics, construction documents, and single-line diagrams. Assist in creating contract plans and specifications with precision.
- Collaborate with architects, structural engineers, and mechanical teams to integrate electrical designs within the overall building model, identifying and resolving clashes or conflicts.
- Ensure all electrical designs comply with relevant codes, standards, and regulations, including the National Electrical Code (NEC).
- Perform engineering calculations and complete project checklists.
- Create drawing plans as instructed and develop a strong understanding of project development processes.
- Conduct regular reviews of projects to ensure accuracy, consistency, and adherence to requirements.
- Work closely with project managers, clients, and other stakeholders to provide updates, address concerns, and incorporate feedback into designs.
- Participate in construction observation and administration under direction.
- Attend client project meetings with supervision and assist in taking project designs to completion under ongoing guidance.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit MEP, and content creation processes.
- Ability to produce quality drawings, set up projects in Revit, and work with existing models.
- Proficient in modifying details, families, and applying filters in Revit.
- Knowledge of spatial coordination between disciplines and Level of Development (LOD) standards 100 and 200.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Teams, SharePoint) and other tools like Masterworks, Mail Manager, FTP functions, and Bluebeam.
- Experience with cloud modeling and setup in BIM 360.
- Familiarity with Navisworks Manage is preferred.
- Strong organizational skills, including file management and adherence to folder structure standards.
- Ability to perform submittal reviews as directed by engineers and use drawing checklists for final deliverables.
- Capable of working under pressure with shifting priorities and tasks, including flexibility in hours and willingness to work overtime as needed.
- Effective design problem-solving skills.
Education and Experience:
- Associate’s degree in drafting, design, or a related field.
- A minimum of 4 years of experience in architectural/engineering design is preferred.
- Technical proficiency in BIM software, particularly Autodesk Revit.
- Strong knowledge of electrical systems design, building construction processes, and relevant codes and standards.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $30.00 - $43.00 per hour
