Job Description
Role and Responsibilities

Develop and oversee the overall project plan, including timelines, budgets, and resource allocation for projects.

Coordinate with architects, engineers, contractors, and clients to ensure all project requirements and objectives are clearly understood and met.

Establish project milestones and monitor progress to ensure that projects stay on schedule and within budget.

Oversee the project site to ensure operations are carried out efficiently and safely.

Prepare and manage the project budget, including cost estimation, resource allocation, and expense tracking.

Approve and monitor expenditures, ensuring that the project remains financially viable.

Review and authorize invoices, and subcontractor payments.

Provide direction and support to team members, ensuring clear communication and collaboration across all levels of the project.

Partner with operations manager and safety manager to identify potential risks and challenges associated with the excavation project and develop strategies to mitigate them.

Monitor project activities to identify and address any issues that could impact the project's success.

Partner with operations manager to implement contingency plans to handle unexpected problems or delays.

Partner with operations manager to serve as the primary point of contact for clients, providing regular updates on project progress and addressing any concerns or questions.

Maintain strong relationships with clients, ensuring their needs and expectations are met throughout the project lifecycle.

Prepare and present project reports, including status updates, budget summaries, and final project evaluations.

Partner with operations manager and safety manager to ensure that all excavation work meets the required quality standards and specifications.

Partner with operations manager to conduct regular site inspections to verify that the work is being carried out to the highest standards.

Partner with operations manager to address any issues related to quality, ensuring that corrective actions are taken promptly.

Ensure that all project activities comply with local, state, and federal regulations, including permits, licenses, and environmental requirements.

Maintain accurate and comprehensive project documentation, including contracts, permits, schedules, and financial records.

Prepare and submit required reports to regulatory agencies, clients, and company management.

Manage and allocate resources, including labor, equipment, and materials, to ensure the project is completed efficiently.

Coordinate the procurement of materials and equipment, ensuring they are delivered on time and within budget.

Partner with operations manager to optimize the use of resources to minimize waste and reduce costs.

Oversee the completion of the project, ensuring that all work is finished to the client's satisfaction and that all contractual obligations are met.

Conduct a final site inspection and address any remaining issues or punch list items.

Prepare a final project report, including a summary of lessons learned and recommendations for future projects.

Qualifications and Education Requirements

High School Diploma or GED: A minimum educational requirement for a Project Manager is typically a high school diploma or its equivalent (GED). This ensures the individual has basic reading, writing, and math skills necessary to interpret blueprints, follow instructions, and manage job-related documentation.

Technical or Vocational Training: While not always required, completing a vocational or technical training program in heavy equipment operation or construction technology can be highly beneficial. These programs provide hands-on experience and instruction in operating various types of heavy machinery, including excavators.

Extensive Experience in Excavation and Construction Management: Typically, 5-10 years of experience in a similar role is required, with a strong background in managing site projects.

Experience in Budget Management, Risk Assessment, and Resource Allocation: Essential for effectively managing all aspects of a project.

OSHA Certification

Willingness to Work Long Hours

Valid drivers license (with clean record)

Preferred Skills

Leadership and Team Management: Ability to lead and motivate a team, manage conflicts, and ensure collaboration.

Project Management Skills: Expertise in planning, scheduling, budgeting, and risk management.

Technical Knowledge: Understanding of excavation techniques, equipment, safety regulations, and environmental considerations.

Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills for interacting with clients, team members, and stakeholders.

Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to identify and address challenges quickly and effectively.

Negotiation Skills: Useful for dealing with contractors, suppliers, and clients.

Knowledge of Safety Regulations: A deep understanding of safety protocols is crucial to ensure a safe work environment.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $85,000.00 per year
