About Being an Early Childcare Education Lead Teacher:
This position provides oversight for a specific childcare program area, staff supervision of assistant caregivers, and compliance with all regulatory requirements including NAEYC and STARs.
- Serves in a dual role to provide direction and supervision for ECE Assistants while sharing all duties related to mentoring, training, researching and implementing age appropriate curriculum activities and complying with all regulatory requirements.
- Implements and manages operational changes in the assigned childcare program area to comply with regulations, STARs and NAEYC.
- Reports staff disciplinary issues that need attention to the Program Manager/assigned supervisor or to the division director.
- Provides input to the Director/assigned supervisor for staff performance evaluations.
- Directs the work of volunteers assigned to the classroom.
- Provides oversight for the accurate and timely completion of all required documentation including attendance records, individualized goals, service notes, reports for the family, incident reports, food service forms, etc.
- Sets up and assist children in the use of assistive/adaptive and computer technology for structured or independent learning and to perform functional tasks.
- Collaborates with other assistants in establishing children’s individual objectives.
- Attends meetings as assigned.
- Communicates pertinent information regarding each child’s care and wellbeing to all other assistant caregivers, and relevant people.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Competencies:
- Computer Skills – Possesses a working knowledge of Microsoft office skills, internet software and database programs. Able to accurately enter data into a database, search for information, send and receive email and attachments.
- Teamwork including balancing team and individual responsibilities, exhibiting objectivity and openness to others' views, giving and welcoming feedback, contributing to building a positive team spirit, and supporting everyone's efforts to succeed.
- Strong customer service skills in reference to both internal and external customers.

What Easterseals RedwoodRequired Education and Experience:
- Child Development Associates degree or preparatory work towards that degree or college coursework, associates, or baccalaureate degree in early childhood education, special education, or closely related field.
- At least two years’ experience working with children with special health care needs.
Work Environment:
Work is performed with children with special needs/disabilities in classrooms in EastersealsRedwood’s building, on the grounds, and in the community. Redwood’s building is climate controlled with standard lighting. When conducting duties outside of the building, lighting and temperature reflect seasonal conditions. Noise levels are moderate. There is minimal-to-no exposure to hazardous chemicals with occasional exposure to contagious conditions, such as the common cold. Children may display disruptive behavior.
