Dr. Benjamin Hooks Job Corps Center, located in Memphis, Tennessee, is an education and residential training facility for young adults, ages 16-24. Here, we aspire to provide students with the training and skills to ensure future success, in today's evolving workforce.
We are currently seeking a motivated individual to: Create links between students, employers, and curriculum teams, to ensure the successful delivery of work-based learning opportunities, through work experience and work-based learning programs.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
- Manage work-based learning activities, including coordination of student transportation to off-center work sites, documentation of work-based competency achievement, and evaluations related to student/employee training.
- Ensure all testing and vocational criteria have been met prior to student's entry into work-based learning.
- Identify barriers to student admissions/training/placement and formulates action plans.
- Participate in employer-sponsored community activities.
- Work with Center staff, employers, organized labor and the community to establish positive work-based learning sites.
- Plan and coordinate activities to bring together employers, educators, students, and center staff to ensure the success of the Work Based Learning program.
- Develop slots in coordination with department heads for on-Center WBL training.
- Generate work site opportunities that best match the training capabilities and needs of trainees with employers' requirements.
- Work with the Career Services Department to monitor the coordination of center academic and vocational training, and work site learning.
- Maintains contacts with work-based learning sites, to assist student adjustment to the work site.
- Work with business partners to identify or develop the appropriate curriculum for each Work-Based Learning model.
SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES INCLUDE:
- Knowledge of test administration and evaluation
- Possession of strong verbal and communication skills
- High level energy and ability to engage students
- High level of written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to establish and maintain professional relationships with local employers and community agencies.
- Strong organizational skills
- Proficient in the use of computer software (Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.)
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor's degree in work related field. A combination of education and experience may substitute for the degree on a year-for-year basis.
EXPERIENCE:
- One year experience in a work-related field.
- Experience working with youth.
- Sales experience is preferred.
Must possess a valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
