JOB SUMMARY:
The Encompass Community Services IT Department has an opening for a full-time Systems Administrator. A relaxed atmosphere, dress code and generous hourly compensation relative to skill level required make this a fantastic position for someone with experience in enterprise IT system operations.
Encompass Community Services is the largest community-based nonprofit in Santa Cruz County and you’ll be helping to keep 30 locations across the County running smoothly, gaining valuable experience with technologies traditionally found in large for-profit organizations.
Responsibilities for work will include:
• Responsible for the maintenance, configuration, and reliable operation of computer systems, network servers, and virtualization
• Install and upgrade computer components and software, manage virtual servers, and integrate automation processes
• Troubleshoot hardware and software errors by running diagnostics, documenting problems and resolutions, prioritizing problems, and assessing impact of issues
• Provide documentation and technical specifications to IT staff for planning and implementing new or upgrades of IT infrastructure
• Perform or delegate regular backup operations and implement appropriate processes for data protection, disaster recovery, and failover procedures
• Lead Tier 2 desktop and helpdesk support efforts, making sure all desktop applications, workstations, and related equipment problems are resolved in a timely manner with limited disruptions
Requirements
• Strong understanding of information technology concepts and best practices
• Experience in cloud hosted services and cloud systems management
• Knowledge of network protocols and security tools
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Experience with incident response and recovery
• Knowledge of virtualization technologies
• Familiarity with regulatory requirements, such as HIPAA
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
Desired Qualifications
• 1-3 years of experience in IT Systems Administration
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field
• Strong knowledge of systems and networking software, hardware, and networking protocols
• Experience with scripting and automation tools
• Experience in implementing IT strategy and plans
• Strong experience in Help Desk operations
